Welcome to Buckley RacingFort Worth, TX 76135 817.239.7969 "Providing racing performance up-grades for 911's with emphasis on suspension tuning and set-ups."
Buckley Racing was started with the idea of that there was a need for a good race prep shop specializing in Porsche 911's in North Texas. "I saw too many people chasing the target and spending three times what they should to develop their cars." Over the 14 years that I have been road racing and working with quality suppliers like Smart Racing Products and Elephant Racing, we have developed a nationally competitive suspension package with proven results (i.e. numerous class lap records and class wins). Whether you are a driver's education enthusiast or a competitive club racer, we can provide solid advice to effectively develop your car! Besides suspension development and chassis set-up, we provide the following services:
*Compression Ratio Measurement: Have you ever wondered whether your engine was making all of the horsepower it should? Buckley Racing has the technology to test your compression ratio with the engine assembled and in the car. In PCA club racing, stock class engines are regulated by the rules to a certain factory specified compression ratio. Over the last year, since purchasing our compression ratio tester, we have found that 80% of the stock engines we have tested are below spec. The engine can be brought up to specifications as part of a routine valve job. Suppliers: Buckley Racing is an authorized reseller and installer for Smart Racing Products, Elephant Racing, Guard Limited Slip Differentials, Web cams, Carrillo Rods, European Racing Headers, WEVO, JWest shifters, World Pac, SSF Imported Car Parts, Hoerr Racing Products, Fresh Air Systems Technologies - Cool Suits, Snap-off steering quick connects, CDOC, Performance Products, Stoddard, and many other great suppliers. The people of Buckley Racing:Jim Buckley - at Daytona 24 hours, 2005
Jim Buckley, owner and founder of Buckley Racing, purchased his first Porsche 911, a 1970 911T, in 1978. This experience led to a life long love and respect for all things Porsche. "I was working on a degree in Mechanical Engineering and was extremely impressed by the sophistication of engineering in my Porsche. After three years, I had to sell the car to help finance the rest of my degree but I always planned to own another one." In the mid to late 70's and on through graduation, I bought, restored, and sold many sports cars to finance my education. I had MG's, Triumphs, Austin Healy's, BMW's and a Datsun 2000, but the 911 was always my favorite car. Besides mechanical tasks, I taught myself how to paint and do body work and won several concours awards with the BMW club for my BMW 2002 restorations. In 1988, I finally found my next 911 - a 1971 911E basket case. It had been sitting for 10 years stored outside at Edwards Air force base in CA. It was all there but the interior was so rotted, I literally stripped it out and threw it away. Fortunately it showed no signs of rust and still has the original pan. I restored that car and went on to develop the suspension and eventually build another motor and transmission for it. During that time, I won several regional auto cross and time trial championships and eventually "driver of the Year" with the Porsche Club in 1993. At that point, me and my good friend, Fred Seipp, wondered "What's next?" and we decided PCA CLUB RACING! PCA was a good fit for me since no contact is allowed but competitive racing is. I think it takes a lot more skill to race at very close quarters with someone and to be aware enough and have the car control not to contact them. During this time, I met Craig Watkins, founder of Smart Racing Products, and he became a mentor of sorts. Craig, now chief engineer for the Flying Lizards ALMS team, helped me understand the intricacies of suspension dynamics and was a close collaborator in building my very successful "70S" G-class car. Through Craig's friendship, encouragement and continued support, I have developed a successful formula for matching suspension components into a well balanced system. Well, during the next 14 years, I made many friends and learned a tremendous amount about how to make a 911 handle well and how to build good reliable motors and transmissions. During this time, I have been able to leave my mark with numerous track lap records and class wins in different cars. To make a long story a little shorter, after 23 years working for someone else in various capacities and earning an MBA in 1996, I decided it was time to start Buckley Racing and leverage the things I had learned into a successful business. We're in our 4th year and while it has been trying at times, business is good and we have great customers who we enjoy helping to go fast! Our philosophy is to go the extra mile to make it right, stand behind what we do and to communicate with our customers. We hope that will make a difference with you. Jeff Frazier:
Jeff Frazier came to Buckley Racing in January 2007 and has been an important part of the team ever since. At age 18, Jeff joined the Air force for a 7 year tour working as a crew chief on B52's. This began a rewarding career performing aviation maintenance on a variety of aircraft and is continuing at SouthWest Airlines. With a life long love of mechanics, Jeff bought his first Porsche in 2005 and was immediately hooked. He did a Maverick Region DE and knew that club racing was in the foreseeable future. In less than a year, Jeff has been through more of a 911 than most people see during their ownership. He is now preparing a 1978 911SC for G-class racing and can hardly wait until his first event. Jeff brings a high level of mechanical competence and "air crafty-ness" to Buckley Racing and is a valuable complement to the team. Leslie Buckley:
Leslie Buckley is the best partner a man could possibly have. We met 5 years ago and she immediately fell in love with me and racing! She quickly caught on with the program and anticipates things that need to be done, staying one step ahead of me. Her fantastic support and encouragement make our life fun and rewarding. I finally got smart and asked her to marry me and we had a wonderful ceremony with many family and friends in May 2006! I couldn't have come this far without her and hope for many rewarding years to come.
